The Ernst Mach grant worldwide is open to postgraduates pursuing a doctoral/PhD programme outside Austria, postgraduates and post-docs wishing to do research in Austria with the goal of pursing an academic career and who have completed their studies (at an university outside Austria), or post-docs who are working as lectures at a university outside Austria.

Eligible for application are only Predoctoral Fellows, who are after finishing their Master or diploma studies pursuing a doctoral/PhD programme outside Austria and who want to deepen their scientific and specialist knowledge. Eligible are applicants who are primarily occupied with Austria-related topics in the field of history. Applicants must not have studied/pursued research/pursued academic work in Austria in the last six months before taking up the grant.

Eligible for application are highly qualified post-docs in the field of history who are primarily occupied with Austria-related topics. Recipients of Richard Plaschka grants can work as visiting researchers at university departments and institutes and carry out specialist studies in libraries, archives or at research institutions.
It is therefore absolutely essential that prior contact with an educational or research institution in Austria has already been made.
